Free workshop templates your team can use right away
Printable canvases from 1.000+ workshops since 2014. Each one fits on a single page, comes with a five-step run sheet and ends with a decision, not a discussion.
How a template session runs
- 1Print it in A3 and put it on the table between five to eight people.
- 2Follow the five steps on this page. Each step is one activity with one rule.
- 3Photograph the finished sheet and send it to everyone right after the session.
A plan everyone can see, a decision everyone heard
A workshop plan on one page
Outcome, phases, materials and success signals, visible before anyone books a room.
Risks named before they bite
The quiet people’s concerns are on the wall, clustered, with an owner and a date.
A short list, not a long one
At most three quick wins and one big bet leave the room, and the team agrees who tells the rest.
Three workshop templates to start with
Every template has been used in real workshops with teams from the companies below. Save the image, print it, run it.
Workshop Design Canvas
One page that holds the whole workshop: outcome, participants, the five phases from opening the field to commitments, materials and success criteria.
Time: 20 to 40 minutes to fill, alone or with the sponsor
- Write the outcome first: what has the group decided, built or agreed by the end? One sentence.
- Name who is in the room, who decides and who only needs to hear about it afterwards.
- Fill the five phases left to right. Every phase gets one activity and a group size.
- List materials and three success signals you can observe in the room.
- Check the rule: every ten minutes the participants work on something themselves.
Pre-Mortem Sheet
A one-page run sheet for the pre-mortem: the team imagines the project has already failed and works back from there to the causes and the countermeasures.
Time: 60 to 90 minutes with 5 to 15 people
- Read the opening line out loud: it is twelve months later, the project has failed completely.
- Everyone writes reasons alone and in silence, one per card, for two minutes.
- Read the cards out in rounds, one card per person per round, no discussion yet.
- Cluster the cards into three to five causes and give each one a headline.
- Pick the two most likely causes and agree a countermeasure, an owner and a date for each.
Prioritisation Grid
The impact-versus-effort grid with a decision rule printed on it, so the session ends with a short list instead of a long discussion.
Time: 30 to 45 minutes
- Number every idea on the right-hand list, one line each.
- Each person places the numbers into the grid for themselves first, then the team merges.
- Talk only about the numbers that landed in different quadrants.
- Apply the rule: at most three quick wins and one big bet leave the room.
- Agree who tells the owners of the ideas that wait for the next round.
The library grows every month
The next templates are already in use in our trainings and move into the library one by one.

Learn to design and run workshops that end with a result
Every template follows the same structure: open the field, select, sharpen, commit. Our two-day facilitation training teaches that structure, the core activities for each phase and how to keep a room working. In person, in your offices or at our locations in Hamburg, Brussels, Amsterdam and London.
Three formats
- 1Template session, 90 minutes. We run one template with your team on a real topic.
- 2Facilitation training, two days. Your people design and run their own workshops afterwards.
- 3Workshop design on demand. You have a workshop in three weeks and want the plan done with us.

Good to know
Are the workshop templates really free?
Yes. Save the image, print and use them with your team as often as you like. We ask for one thing: keep the SkillDay credit on the page and share the link rather than the file, so people always get the current version.
Which size should I print?
A3 is the sweet spot for a group of five to eight people around one sheet. A4 works for individual preparation. Every template is laid out in landscape.
Can I use them in Miro or on a whiteboard?
Of course. The structure is what matters, not the paper. Draw the boxes on a whiteboard or rebuild them on a Miro board; the first templates will be on Miroverse shortly.
Can I adapt a template to my own context?
Please do. Rename a box, add a phase, translate it into your language. If you make a version that works better, we would love to see it.
What if my team has never run a workshop like this?
Start with the Workshop Design Canvas; it makes the plan visible before anyone enters the room. If you want the method behind the templates, our facilitation training covers it in two days.
