Workshops using special LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® bricks · Germany · Netherlands · Denmark

Build the answer together.

A workshop with LEGO® bricks gives every person on your team the same airtime. People build their answer with their hands, tell the story behind the model and leave with one shared picture, guiding principles in their own words and next steps they own. Strategy, team building, values, change, innovation or a kick-off: you bring the question, we bring the bricks.

Every round, four steps
1

Question

One clear question that matters to your business.

2

Build

Everyone builds an answer as a model, at the same time.

3

Share

Each person tells the story of their model.

4

Reflect

The team captures what it saw and takes it further.

What changes

After the workshop, your team shares one picture

Teams book a workshop with LEGO® bricks when a decision needs everyone on board. This is what they take home.

A shared model of your question

Everyone’s view in one model on the table. Strategy, roles and dependencies become visible, so the team talks about the same thing.

Guiding principles in your own words

Simple rules for how you decide and work together, written by the people who have to live them.

Next steps with owners

A short list of actions, each with a name and a date. The energy of the day turns into work that starts right away.

Why it works

Why building with LEGO® bricks works

Think with your hands

Building slows the mind down just enough. People find answers they would never have said out loud in a meeting.

Every voice counts

Each person builds and each person tells their story. Full participation is built into the format.

Metaphors make it clear

A bridge, a wall, a tower: a model says in seconds what a slide needs ten bullets for, and the team remembers it.

Use cases

Workshop with LEGO® bricks for business: seven ways teams use it

Every workshop is built around one question. These are the questions teams bring most often, and what they take home.

Team building

“What makes us strong as a team, and what do we want more of?”

A team day with substance: everyone builds, everyone is heard, and the team leaves with a shared picture of how it wants to work together.

Strategy and vision

“Where do we want to be in three years?”

Your leadership team builds the target picture, tests it against scenarios and leaves with priorities and a 90-day plan.

Values and culture

“How do we want to treat each other and our customers?”

Values stop being words on a poster. The team builds what each value looks like in daily work and agrees on guiding principles.

Change and reorganisation

“Where are we today, where are we going, and what is the path?”

People build the current state, the future and the obstacles in between. Resistance becomes visible, and so do the first steps.

Leadership offsites

“How do we want to lead and decide as one team?”

A strong opener or a full day inside your offsite: roles, expectations and dependencies in one model the whole team can stand behind.

Innovation and customer journeys

“What does our customer really experience?”

Customer journeys, service ideas and business models you can touch, built from the customer’s point of view.

Kick-offs and new teams

“Who are we, and how do we start well?”

A project kick-off, a merged team or a new department: strengths, roles and ways of working, clear from day one.

Formats

From a 90-minute module to a two-day offsite

A workshop using special LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® bricks runs from a 90-minute module to two full days. In a short briefing we agree on your question, the outcome you need and the right format. The agenda is a proposal we shape together.

Module in your meeting or offsite

90 minutes to half a day. A focused building session that gets every voice into the room, a strong opener for a strategy day or a kick-off.

Half-day or full-day team workshop

One question, individual models and one shared model. Ideal for team building, values, a new or merged team or a team day with substance.

One- or two-day strategy workshop

Shared model, landscape and connections, scenarios, guiding principles and a 90-day action plan with owners.

FAQ

Questions about workshops with LEGO® bricks

Do we need to be creative or good with LEGO® bricks?

Every workshop opens with a short skills build: a tower, a metaphor, a story. After that, everyone in the room builds with confidence. The value lies in the story each person tells about the model, so the look of the model is secondary.

How many people can take part?

Up to 20 people per facilitator work well, because everyone builds and everyone tells a story. For larger groups we add a second facilitator and work in parallel tables.

Which topics does the format suit?

Any question that needs the whole team on board: strategy and vision, values and culture, team building, change, leadership alignment, innovation and kick-offs. Factual topics with one right answer are better served by a classic workshop.

How long does a workshop take?

From a 90-minute module inside your meeting to a full two-day strategy workshop. Most teams book a full day.

Do you bring the materials?

Yes. We bring all special LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® bricks and workshop materials to your office or offsite venue. You provide a room with tables for group work.

Are you affiliated with the LEGO Group?

No. SkillDay is an independent workshop provider. We use the special LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® bricks in our own workshop format and are not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by the LEGO Group.

In which language do you run the workshop?

In English or German, also for mixed international teams.
