Train the trainer course for companies – in-house, Europe-wide

Train the Trainer Course: your experts run trainings people actually use

An in-house train the trainer course: two days after which your internal trainers and subject-matter experts design and deliver trainings in which the group works, and puts the content to use right away. Built on their own training topic, rehearsed in front of the group, with feedback.

1.000+ workshops and trainings since 2014 At your offices or live online Everyone leaves with a finished concept

From topic to training in two days

Four steps every good training goes through

1
One core messageWhat should people be able to do afterwards? One sentence that carries the whole training.
2
The arcInput, exercise, result: a flow in which the group does something itself every ten minutes.
3
The exercisesActivities with one clear rule each, that work even without the trainer in the room.
4
The deliverySlides that carry, questions that open up the room, and calm with difficult participants.

Outcomes

What your trainers can do after the two days

Your people have the expertise. This course gives them the craft to pass it on so it lands in daily work.

Get a training to the point

Turn a topic into one core message and derive from it what belongs in the training and what does not.

Build a flow

Plan the arc of input, exercise and result, with realistic timings and an ending that secures the transfer.

Let the group work

Run exercises, steer small groups, collect results and give feedback that moves people forward.

Stand in front of a group

Present with few, strong slides, respond calmly to questions and objections, and handle difficult situations.

Three principles

What sets this train the trainer program apart from a lecture

A training is a workshop: people learn by doing something. This course is built exactly that way.

On your own training

Everyone brings the topic they will train next. The concept is built on it, the rehearsals use it. No case study from a foreign industry.

A task every ten minutes

The rule from 1.000 workshops: after every short input, the group works. Participants learn this rhythm by living it for two days.

Rehearsal with feedback

On day two, every participant delivers a section of their training to the group. Feedback follows fixed rules and shows what carries and what is still missing.

Content

The four building blocks of the course

Design on day one, delivery on day two. Which blocks get more room is settled together in the briefing.

Design

From topic to core message, from core message to learning goals. What people should be able to do afterwards decides every piece of content.

How we work

How I work with your trainers

I have facilitated workshops and trainings since 2014, more than 1.000 to date. Out of that came a method that applies to any topic: one core message, an arc in six phases, activities with one rule each, and a toolbox of over 30 proven workshop methods. Your trainers learn exactly this method by applying it to their own topic.

Day two belongs to practice. Everyone delivers a section of their training, the group gives feedback by fixed rules, and the concept is sharpened. Whoever leaves the room has their next training in their pocket.

For L&D this means one shared standard for all internal trainings, a short briefing upfront, material included, on site on time. If your team also designs and runs workshops, the facilitation training for workshop facilitators is the natural companion.

Two days in-house

The standard: day one design, day two rehearsals and feedback. Six to twelve people.

One day compact

Structure, exercises and slide principles in one day, for groups that already train regularly.

Follow-up

Sparring before the first own training, or an online session after the first runs.

Take-aways

What is on the table at the end of the two days

Your own training concept

Core message, learning goals and the complete flow of the next own training as a journey map.

The exercises

Three to five activities for the own topic, each with a rule, a timebox and a result.

The first slides

The slides for the first 90 minutes, built on the course principles and tested in rehearsal.

The checklist

Preparation, material, room and follow-up on one page, for every further training.

Sample agenda

Two days train the trainer course

A proposal we tailor to your group in the briefing.

09:00
Arrival and starting point

Which trainings are coming up, what works, where it gets stuck. Everyone names their training topic for the two days.

09:45
The core message

What should people be able to do afterwards? Everyone writes the one sentence for their training.

11:00
The arc

Input, exercise, result: the flow of the own training takes shape as a journey map.

12:30
Lunch

13:30
Building exercises

Activities with one rule each: everyone develops three to five exercises for their topic and tests one in the group.

15:30
Slides and material

One statement per slide, big type, real photos. The first slides of the own training are built.

17:00
Close of day 1

What gets prepared for tomorrow: the first 90 minutes of the own training.

Day 2: Delivery

09:00
Presence and voice

The start of a training, the first five minutes, posture and speaking in front of a group.

10:00
Rehearsals, round 1

Everyone delivers a section of their training. Feedback by fixed rules.

12:30
Lunch

13:30
Difficult participants

Five types every training knows, and for each one a response that keeps the room calm.

14:30
Rehearsals, round 2

Second run with the improvements from round 1. The concept is sharpened.

16:30
Transfer and close

Everyone sets the date of their training and what will be ready by then.

The agenda is a proposal. In the briefing we clarify what matters for your trainers after the two days and adjust the weighting.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions about the train the trainer course

Who is this train the trainer course for?

Anyone who passes on knowledge inside a company: internal trainers, subject-matter experts who teach colleagues, product and process owners, onboarding buddies, and L&D or academy teams. No prior training experience needed.

What is finished at the end of the course?

Every participant leaves with their own training designed: core message, flow, exercises and the slides for the first 90 minutes, rehearsed once in front of the group with feedback. It is ready to run right away.

One day or two days?

Two days are the standard: day one design, day two delivery and rehearsals. A one-day version focuses on structure and exercises and suits groups that already train regularly. We settle the format in the briefing.

Do participants work on real trainings?

Yes. Everyone brings a training they will run soon, or a topic they have to pass on. The concept is built on it, and the rehearsals use it. Generic case studies are the exception.

What group size works best?

Six to twelve people. That leaves time for everyone to rehearse and get detailed feedback. Larger groups are split across two dates or discussed individually.

Is there follow-up after the course?

On request: a sparring session before the first own training, or an online session after the first runs where the group compares notes and sharpens their concepts.

Where does the course take place, and in which language?

At your offices anywhere in Europe, or live online with breakout rooms. Delivered in English or German. On site we need a room with a screen or projector, a flip chart and space for small groups.
