How to use it

Use the presentation checklist twice

The checklist works best at two moments. Most problems are cheapest to fix early – in the story, not on the slides.

First

When the storyline is ready

Run stage 1 before you design a single slide. A clear message saves hours of slide work.

Then

A day or two before you present

Run all 20 checks. There is still time to rehearse, prepare answers and align with stakeholders.

Team

As a shared standard

Use the checklist in deck reviews, so everyone gives feedback against the same 20 points.

Questions about the presentation checklist

What should a presentation checklist include?

A good presentation checklist covers four areas: the story (core message, audience, call to action), the slides (one message per slide, little text, readable charts), the delivery (rehearsal, timing, questions) and the decision you want afterwards. This checklist has five checks for each area.

When should I use the checklist?

Twice: once when your storyline is ready and before you design slides, and once a day or two before the presentation, when you can still fix gaps in delivery and stakeholder preparation.

What does my score mean?

18 to 20 ticks: ready to present. 12 to 17: a good basis with a few gaps. Below 12: fix the story and the structure first, because good design and delivery cannot rescue an unclear message.

Is the checklist saved?

Your ticks are stored only in your own browser, so you can come back to them. Nothing is sent to us. Use the print button to keep a copy or share it with your team.

Can my whole team use it?

Yes, it is free. Teams that want a shared standard for presentations use it as a starting point for our corporate presentation training.
