Presentation Training for Product Managers
Present products and concepts so that sales teams, retail buyers and management follow right away – with a clear storyline, arguments that hold and slides that carry one message.
Three questions every product presentation answers
- 1
Why is this relevant to me?The audience’s situation comes first – before the product.
- 2
What is in it for me?Benefits for sales, retailers or customers instead of a list of features.
- 3
What is the next step?A concrete call to action: listing, launch date, sign-off.
Your outcome
After one day your product managers present so that others can sell
The training is for teams that present products internally to sales and management or externally to retail partners. Afterwards they can:
Build a storyline everyone follows
Situation, benefit, next step – the dramaturgy that turns a product concept into a decision.
Argue with benefits, not features
Product features become arguments for the audience: margin, rotation, time saved, differentiation.
Design slides that carry a message
Show product visuals, numbers and comparisons so the point lands in seconds.
Two typical situations
Product presentation training for sales teams and retail
Product managers rarely present for applause. They present so that others sell, list or approve afterwards. The training covers both directions.
Presenting products to sales teams
Launch presentations, product trainings and updates for internal and international sales teams.
- Explain complex products simply – without jargon
- Package the selling points so sales can pass them on directly
- A structure that also works in 15 minutes in a sales meeting
Presenting product concepts to retail
Concept and sell-in presentations for category managers, buyers and key accounts.
- Open with the retailer’s situation and its shoppers
- Retailer benefit before product features: range profile, rotation, margin
- Anticipate objections and make the next step concrete
The training day
Story in the morning, slides in the afternoon
Every block follows the same principle: a short input, immediate application to your own product, then feedback from the group and the trainer.
As a worked example we analyse a widely quoted product keynote scene by scene – and then transfer the structure to a product from your portfolio. Further structures such as the pyramid approach, the recommendation tree and the five-sentence method are covered in depth in our storytelling workshop for presentations.
The hero’s journey as a presentation structure: situation, challenge, solution, benefit, call to action. Exercise: everyone builds a three-minute short presentation on their own product.
Features become benefit arguments for sales, retail or management; few numbers, clearly framed. Exercise: pitch your own product in one minute.
Design principles, reduction, product visuals and numbers. Live slide tuning: together we rebuild two or three slides from your product presentations.

Questions about the presentation training for product managers
Who is this presentation training for product managers for?
Product managers and product owners who regularly present products, features or concepts to sales teams, retail partners or management. No prior training is needed; bringing a product of your own helps.
How does the training day run?
One day, 9:00 to 17:00: storyline and argumentation in the morning, slide design in the afternoon. In both blocks every participant works on their own product and gets feedback.
How large can the group be?
Up to 20 participants. At that size we work in pairs and small groups; several teams present in plenary, so everyone gets feedback.
Can we work on our own product presentations?
Yes, that is the normal case. In the briefing call we agree which products and situations are typical; in the training we rework real slides from your day-to-day. Anonymised versions are perfectly fine.
Is the training available in German?
Yes. We run the training entirely in English or in German, including all materials, for international product and sales teams.
What makes this different from a general presentation course?
The angle: product managers sell an idea to people who then have to sell or list it themselves. Structures, examples and exercises are built around that, from the benefit argument to the slide with product visual and numbers.
Where does the training take place?
In-house at your offices across Europe, or as a live online training in two blocks. Current open dates are listed at skillday.com/workshop-days.

Jörn Steinz (MBA)
Founder and managing director of SkillDay, Hamburg
Before he trained others, he presented himself – daily. As a consultant at Accenture and as a manager in corporate development at XING AG and freenet Group he developed management and client presentations for years: under time pressure, in front of critical decision-makers, with real consequences.
Since 2012 he has trained professionals and managers in companies with SkillDay – always on a real topic, always with feedback that can be applied right away. In English and in German, on site and online. SkillDay is a network of around six trainers.
